THE ULTIMATE PRODUCT FOR THE SERIOUS AND THE CURIOUS! We really did it this time! The UP24 is one of our most advanced kits to date, and an absolute MUST for anyone serious about the environment around us! But the applications only begin there. The unique design allows unprecedented super high resolution measurements and display of absolute atmospheric air pressure.
ELEVATION TO A THIRD OF AN INCH! I have written a lot of catalog pages and a boatload of specification sheets but this one is a challenge because the applications are endless and the performance characteristics are beyond description! The UP24 senses ambient air pressure and critically calculates elevation with unheard of precision! Using a highly sensitive sensor and 24-bit A/D converter in a special noise-immune design, less than 1/3" of an inch of elevation resolution is achieved! YES, we said 1/3 of an inch! This high accuracy and resolution opens the door to a host of sophisticated elevation monitoring applications from consumer use to professional civil engineering applications.
AIR PRESSURE IN ANY FORMAT! Unlike your normal run-of-the-mill barometer, air pressure is sensed in Pa's or kPa's. What are those you may ask? Pascals or KiloPascals. However, don't be afraid, for your convenience, and to fit any application you may have, it is also displayed in millibars, bars, PSI, atmospheres, millimeters of mercury, inches of mercury, and feet of water! Take your pick! The range of the UP24 is 15kPa to 155kPa. That also means: 15000 to 155000 Pascal's 150 to 1550 Millibars 0.15 to 1.55 Bars 2.175566 to 22.48085 Pounds per square inch 0.1480385 to 1.529731 Atmospheres 112.5093 to 1162.596 Millimeters of mercury 4.429498 to 45.77148 Inches of mercury 5.02 to 51.9 feet of water
THE HI-RES REALTIME ATMOSPHERE SENSOR! Gradual pressure changes, like a barometer, can show you gradual changes in the weather. Instantaneous high sensitivity changes in air pressure can show you a whole lot more! Weather-wise, high resolution pressure changes can be used to anticipate and even estimate related wind gusts and speeds. This together with "on the fly" pressure changes will give you the upper hand in weather monitoring. Part of ARPS (Advanced Regional Prediction System) is to obtain and analyze realtime data to provide a prediction system for weather components. The UP24 is ideal as a source for highly accurate realtime data.
But what if the air pressure changes that are ever so slight are sensed and recorded? You have the perfect ultra reliable sensor and heart of an alarm for a building. When I first heard this I questioned it. Then the engineering staff said "watch this..." A hundred feet from the main entrance of Ramsey they called the front receptionist and asked her to open the front door to the building. WOW! An immediate change in air pressure registered on the UP24! From an open door, to a broken window, to wind damage, it's all detected and recorded in the UP24! The built-in alarm settings can be set for high or low limits to trip other equipment. THE ULTIMATE ELEVATION METER! We've talked about air pressure, now let's talk about elevation! The incredibly precise 24 bit A/D converter in the UP24 looks at the air pressure and converts it to elevation above sea level. Once again, there I was standing in the engineering office watching the LCD graph. The text at the bottom of the screen said 472' 3". I said yea, so what? They said raise it up a few inches and watch. As I raised it the display constantly changed...472', 8", 473' 1", and so on. I couldn't believe it. The following day I took it to a tower site where I knew the ground elevation and it was dead-on... 1701', 6". Not only did I have the text display of the elevation but a chart graph of the elevation history!
THE CIVIL ENGINEERS AND SURVEYORS DREAM COME TRUE! Until now, the only way Surveyors and Civil Engineers can accomplish detailed elevation measurements is with high-accuracy GPS systems designed specifically for that application. The cost? $20K-$30K! Now you can use the UP24 to measure elevations to a resolution to a third of an inch! Calibrate to a known elevation marker and you can easily chart and track elevations throughout the surrounding area. It's that simple. How many $300 UP24's can you buy for the cost of one surveyor's GPS system??? Lots! The applications for the super accurate elevation meter are endless. From professional surveying, watching and recording elevations during hiking trips, to measuring and recording the wave heights on boats! Let your imagination take over from there!
SPECIAL AIRCRAFT MODE! What about aircraft? Needless to say, as a handheld device measuring air pressure aircraft applications are limited to un-pressurized cabins, but the UP24 provides valuable flight assistance in such cabins and smaller aircraft. In fact, a special "Pilots Mode" is included in the menu to set a min/max altitude window setting to use in conjunction with the built in alarms!
LOCAL OFFSETS & ALARMS...NO PROBLEM! To accommodate site variances, offsets for pressure, elevation, and related hysteresis are also provided as a menu selected operation. Likewise, both high and low alarms can be enabled and set over a wide range of lows and highs for both pressure and elevation!
SMALL, LIGHTWEIGHT, THE SENSOR OF YOUR DREAMS! While the UP24 is small enough to be kept in your coat pocket it boasts a large 2.78" x 1.53" 128x64 pixel LCD display screen making viewing easy. Display modes include both realtime pressure and elevation graphs as well as pressure and elevation statistics. There are 12 user selectable sample rates from 1/10th of a second all the way up to every 15 minutes.
What if you're in the field and you want to save data captured in your UP24? No problem there either! The built-in FLASH storage provides 13,824 samples of storage. That's equivalent to 3 hours and 50 minutes at the 1 second sample rate! When you get back you can transfer your data to your PC with a standard USB interface. Routinely updated interface software is available at our website 24/7!
Does all of this sound too good to be true? It comes close! And it all fits in a small handheld case that measures 5.5" x 3.6" x 1.5" and weighs slightly over half a pound with batteries. Runs on three standard AA Alkaline batteries or the optional external power supply. You can also use rechargeable NiCAD or NiMH AA batteries which will be charged automatically when the external supply is plugged in! If you're looking for the finest air pressure and elevation sensor, check out the UP24, truly a marvel in the industry!
